Stock market update January 2023

The FTSE 100  has continued to rise into 2023, recovering the losses sustained as a result of the COVID pandemic, reaching a 4 year high this week.

During 2022 funding raised by companies on The Main Market during 2022 reached over £8bn in spite of global economic turbulence.

Over £2.4bn was raised by AIM companies in 2022. Companies from the Alternative Energy sector and Technology sector were responsible for raising approximately 40% of this. Companies from the Consumer Goods sector, Financial Services sectors, Mining, and Support Services sector all made a notable contribution to the total funding raised over the year.

Trading Volumes during 2022 were up 1% in the total value of trades on The London Stock Exchange compared with 2021.
